What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a science based approach to hypnotherapy utilising the latest discoveries from modern disciplines such as, Neuro-linguistic Programming, Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neuroscience. Putting together the most effective techniques and ideas from an array of disciplines enables the use of Cognitive Hypnotherapy to create tailored treatments for clients.
One of the core ideas of Cognitive Hypnotherapy is that trance is an everyday occurrence and that 90% of our behaviour is driven by our unconscious mind rather than our conscious mind. For example, some common types of everyday trance are driving, playing with a baby or getting lost in a movie, which most people would do unconsciously as they would also their problem or issue.
Often the problems we deal with, like phobias, unwanted habits, stress, fear and limiting beliefs happen unconsciously and are also a kind of trance. My approach as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist would be to use hypnotherapy to de-hypnotise the client out of their problem, so the client can regain control and see the situation more positively.
Why Cognitive Hypnotherapy is different?
Cognitive Hypnotherepy is vastly different from what is known as traditional or clinical hypnotherapy. Traditional and Clinical Hypnotherapists tend to work from the paradigm that they are treating a problem not an indivual, so two client’s sufferring from a problem with the same name, for example a phobia would receive exactly the same treatment plan. Which is bit like saying to everyone who uses glasses hey try mine they work for me! invenitibly you get mixed results.
How Cognitive Hypnotherapy Works!
I believe everyone is different, and therefore whilst there are similarities we experience problems in different ways, just because two people are using the same label for their problem it’s is unlikely they will respond the same to an identical treatment plan. This is why I create a bepoke treatment plan for each one of my cleints, i do not use any suggestion scripts everyone gets tailored suggestions and inteventions based on the thorough history take i always conduct.
The Theraputic Partnership
If you want to be my client, then we work in partnership together, therapy works best when you are commited to changing and whilst mirricles can happen and working with me can be miraculous there are no magic wands and no changes without some degree of effort on your part. All I ask is that when you decide to see me, you declare yourself in the game.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy = Value for Money
Because of the way cognitive hypnotherapy works, you’ll start to notice a lot of the positive changes between sessions which means it offers suprising value for money as i see most clients somewhere between 3-6 sessions. When you think most people have been living with their problems for many years this is a fantastic result.
Staying up todate
My approach is fully up to date as Cognitive Hypnotherapy it is based on the medical study of Neuroscience, which is a modern understanding of the brain, so I am better equipped to create bespoke solutions for you. Also as member of the NCH I am are required to attend a minimum amount of training every year which I well exceed.
Scientific backing
Hypnotherapy is becoming more and more recognised as the therapy that some Doctors and Medical Professionals recommend, because modern medicine is truly wonderful but sometimes our minds gets get in the way and that where hypnotherapy can help.
“Hypnotherapy is supported by more scientific research than any other complementary therapy”. (The Which? Guide to Complementary Therapies, 2002).
On April 23, 1955, the British Medical Association (BMA) approved the use of hypnosis in the areas of psychoneuroses and hypnoanesthesia in pain management in childbirth and surgery. At this time, the BMA also advised all physicians and medical students to receive fundamental training in hypnosis. (Source Wikipedia)
